"Active Minds" Program for Seniors Coming to Castle Rock

The Castle Rock Senior Activity Center will be hosting “Active Minds” presentations the fourth Thursday of each month at 1:00 PM, beginning June 23rd.  They will be held at the senior center, 2323 Woodlands Blvd, in Castle Rock.  The one-hour free programs are open to the public; call to register at 303-688-9498.

The June 23rd presentation topic will be “The Supreme Court.”  The unexpected death of Antonin Scalia has created one of the most charged political events in a generation.  With the Presidential election in full swing and the future of a divided court hanging in the balance, the stakes couldn’t be higher.  This presentation will examine the current dynamics surrounding filling a vacancy on the highest court in the land, looking at past confirmations to better understand the intricacies of the process.

Active Minds is a Colorado-based company with a mission to expand lives and minds with community-based educational programs for seniors ranging from international affairs to history, poetry and politics.  They conduct more than 400 programs a month in Denver and areas to the north of the city.

“Active Minds is thrilled to be partnering with the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center to provide lifelong learning programs to the southern metro area.  We have not had a presence in this area before and are excited that seniors and adults who haven’t been able to attend Active Minds before now have a program is that is close to them.  We look forward to meeting new folks and developing new friends while sharing the love of learning together,” explained Zane Robertson, Co-Founder of Active Minds.

The Castle Rock Senior Activity Center received a grant from the Lillis Foundation to be able to offer these programs free of charge to participants for the coming year.  For more information call 303-688-9498 or visit
