Homecoming is here. Celebrate with our local high school students.

High school traditions continue in Castle Rock as Douglas County and Castle View high school students celebrate homecoming. Festivities include the annual homecoming parades. Join your local schools:

Thursday, Sept. 28: Douglas County High School

The Huskies’ Homecoming Parade will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, near the school.

Related lane closures will start at 3 p.m. and end around 6 p.m. Along eastbound Scott Boulevard, both directions of traffic will use the northern half of the road, on one side of the median. The southern half will be closed for the parade. This traffic pattern will start at Whispering Oak Drive – near the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Front Street – and continue east as Scott Boulevard turns into Woodlands Boulevard. Traffic will return to normal configurations near Canyon Drive, just beyond the Castle Rock Recreation Center. (Please see attached map.)

The parade will begin along Woodlands Boulevard near the Recreation Center and run west along Woodlands/Scott Boulevard to the back entrance of the high school, near Whispering Oak Drive. Parade attendees are invited to watch from the sidewalks on the south side of Scott Boulevard. For safety reasons, please do not watch from the center medians.

Please pay extra attention to traffic signs and watch for plenty of pedestrian activity. Castle Rock Police will be in the area to help monitor traffic near intersections, but please note officers will not be directing traffic.

Saturday, Sept. 23: Castle View High School

The Sabercats celebrate homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 23, with a parade along Butterfield Crossing Drive starting at 4 p.m.

Along Butterfield Crossing Drive, only westbound traffic will be accessible. As a result, there are also impacts to residential streets. N. Blazing Star Trail, Sungold Lane and N. Silverlace Drive will be closed. There will be right-turns only from Butter Cup Drive, Rosecrown Avenue, Sawgrass Trail and Blue Grass Circle. (Please see attached map.)

The parade runs eastbound on Butterfield Crossing Drive and will include a police escort. It’s expected to run 30 minutes.
